Crazy Talk
Tenth Clapotis = fini.
As much as I like the pattern, I’d still like to think that this will be my last one.
| Pretty, huh?
While I was knitting it, I was thinking, “Man, I’d sure like to have one for myself out of this yarn.” Could somebody lock me up, please? |
|
| This one was made with 2.5 hanks of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport. The drape on it is perfect and lovely and it smells good, and it is my new BFF.
I WANT. |
|
| Enough of that.
Here’s Gus, from a photo shoot I had with him a few days ago. (He’s laying next to the destroyed dog bed.) Isn’t this called “Rembrandt Lighting”? |

Is that Andre 3000 knitting on the subway? LOL, whoever it is, his outfit is awesome! It’s like a knitted orangesicle!

The Clapotis is gorgeous! The dogs are adorable! And I want to know where I can find an outfit that that orange one!!!
Have a great day!

To be totally accurate, he is actually crocheting and wearing crocheted clothes, not knitting.

I just came across your site. I love it!
Your clapotis is beautiful.
That guy on the subway… did you happen across him, or is this something you found on the web? Either way, HILARIOUS!
Comment by TheSteph — November 5, 2007 @ 9:37 am
Yes, that is definitely crocheting and it may be one of the main reasons that I avoid crochet like the plague. He looks very similar to the Lemon Meringue doll my grandmother crocheted for me. But I am impressed with his guts … and your perseverance through 10 Clapoti (?). What is the plural of Clapotis? Few have had to ponder that I think ….

Ah, ha – sport weight Lornas must be the ticket. I started a Clap out of the Shepherd worsted and it was heavy, soggy blanket. RIP! Yours is lovely.

All I can say is, WOW. That is dedication to the art of crochet.
Glad to hear things are working out for you to go to Austin. So happy to hear that doors are opening for you.

The Clapotis is lovely, Gus looks stately (even though he’s sitting next to the destroyed dog bed), and holy cow, that guy has guts (and interesting taste, to say the least)!

10th Clapotis, eh? That’s crazy. I’ll have to check your Ravelry details for how many skeins of sportweight you’ve used. I think a lightweight Clap is the best.
Comment by Wanda — November 5, 2007 @ 12:16 pm
Someone needs to teach that boy how to knit! Yikes. And I hope you’re not done knitting those quiet yet; I had high hopes that one day you’d give me The Clap too.
Comment by Kate — November 5, 2007 @ 1:05 pm
So pretty. Excellent choice of yarn – I can’t wait to see it in person!!
Comment by Stacy — November 5, 2007 @ 1:32 pm
holy crap-o-rama, i can’t believe you’re done already!! you put me to shame, lady (but in a good way). *sigh* off to ravelry i go…

Isn’t it always nice to find folks a little bit further off than you think you, yourself, are? It always makes ME feel better; that’s for sure. Nothing like perspective.
And how yummy is that purple yarn you used?!? I heart it.

stuff (his outfit, his hobby) like that (man crocheting) makes me love my country even more =D
Comment by gray la gran — November 5, 2007 @ 3:00 pm
haha that outfit is crazy! I love the yellow
I love gus in that ‘classic’ lighting.. very serious and respectable. And why not make a clapotis for yourself? sounds like my attitude towards to shoes!
Comment by Rosie — November 5, 2007 @ 6:40 pm
Oh wow. On all counts.
Comment by Melissa — November 5, 2007 @ 7:44 pm
Wow, he enjoys crocheting more than me! He’s totally hooked. haha!! Okay… I’ll stop now.
Comment by Steph — November 5, 2007 @ 8:44 pm
That guy on the subway… I kept looking at his pants and wondering what stitches he used. I may need to be locked up in the cell next to yours, just for that.
And Lorna’s Lace has the best smell ever.

He looks as though he lives in Kodiak Alaska!! Personally I didn’t see the outfit as weird, I just thought wow he’s on a subway!! BAD-need to get out of AK soooonnnn!
Comment by Phyllis — November 5, 2007 @ 9:34 pm
I wonder…is that his very own pattern?
(Good for him!!!)
Dontcha just love basenji feet? Their toes are so articulate!
Just had a thought: with all the turmoil in your life, are you working on Christmas projects? And, in the same vein, is your list a little shorter this year? It’s sad, but that’s the way it usually works.

I knit my first Clapotis with LL Shepherd Sport too – love it! I can certainly understand why you want to make another for yourself.
Comment by Nora — November 6, 2007 @ 1:09 am
That guy is so awesome! As is the clap
Comment by kim — November 6, 2007 @ 11:48 am
Aw, darn it all to heck! I thought I was your new BF!

Fantastic photo!! I love your clapotis too, great colours.

Ok, seriously? That subway photo is cracking me up. Thanks — with everything else going on this week, I *so* needed that.
Comment by Christine — November 8, 2007 @ 9:08 am
I have made one whole and one half clapotis. I look at the pictures of yours and I really want to knit another one. Which one is your favorite. I also have lady eleanor on the list.

10th Clapoti (Clapotises? What is the plural form?) – I don’t think it’s crazy at all, but that’s just because I am well into my 4th one and already thinking about what kind of yarn to use for my 5th. Been thinking about using a sock yarn, just for the hell of it.
Are you busy moving these days? Miss your posts!

“And then Lorelei realized: when using ordinal numbers, you don’t need the plural form …”
Need more coffee.
