No Need for Botox This Week

Edith Bunker! Come on down! You are the first four contestants on The Fast-Topic-Changing Friday!

Can I still say Happy New Year? Happy New Year! Miss Manners can drop me a note if she likes. Let’s get started…

day-7.JPG First up – new foster dog. He’s a handsome one-year old named Leroy, wise and calm beyond his age.

If Ike could have been this good as a puppy, I’d have fewer wrinkles now.

He’s a FOSTER. Really.

img_4830.JPG 2008 Christmas knits. I kind of blew it with the photos this year.

I was so desperate to get everything blocked and sent to Alaska that I didn’t have time for nice photos. As soon as this stuff was dry, I had to send it out. Luckily, the package arrived in Kodiak on Christmas Eve!

day-5.jpg Birfday!

All Basenjis are born in the weeks surrounding Christmas – it’s a weird thing. So they’re all having their birthdays about this time.

Abe just turned 5! I’m happy to say that he’s acting more like a puppy now than he did two years ago.

I knit these up for a class sample. Man, they’re cute.

day-1.JPG Now that I’ve finished my year-long self-portrait photo project, I’ve started a new photo project. This one is 365 Year in Photos, or YIP. I’ll take a photo every day, but I don’t have to limit it to selfies. Should broaden my horizons a bit.

img_4848.JPG I knit another thing…this is Just Enough Ruffles, knit with double-strands of Babyboo.

I highly recommend this pattern.

img_4942.JPG (Another blocking board shot…sorry.)

My Central Park Hoodie is mere MOMENTS from being finished. I’m trying to psych myself up to be excited about the seaming.

Yay! I get to seam! I love seaming! Oy.

img_5005.JPG Ike is one of the few dogs I’ve met who seem to “get it” when it comes to photos. I’ll say Ike’s name and he’ll look at me, then I get a nice photo of his face. Every other dog gets up from their cute pose to come towards me, because they think I’m calling them. Leroy is no exception.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Oh I know what you mean about dogs and cameras! My current dog, Jazz – she acts as if I’m stealing her soul and she looks and stands so weird I can’t use the photo! But I have had dogs that actually posed when the camera came out – and we have lots of photos of them!
Your new foster is gorgeous – so nice that you’re able to do that and able to give them up (most of the time, hee hee)
And your knitting – as usual – is gorgeous! Gor.ge.ous! thanks for sharing your great photos. Love it.
P.S. Happy New Year to you as well!

  2. Congrats on the CPH! I keep wanting to cast on for this project but the thought of seaming changes my mind–sorry. Maybe when I see yours complete I’ll jump in and do it. Happy New Year!

  3. I think we’ve heard this he’s a “foster” thing before…
I think we need a daily video of you saying “he is a foster” so we can see when your resolve is melting and stage an intervention.

    He is really cute…

  4. Yup I never realized the B Day thing but you are right!!
Looks like you have a busy year of photos, knitting, and B’s ahead of ya!!

  5. Happy birthday to Abe and hooray for Leroy!! How do you keep from planting smooches all day long on those adorably wrinkled foreheads? Also, I have to confess that I’m the one (weardaily) who made the bad, bad joke on your flickr page about the bad, bad Jim Croce song. I’m going to have to stop visiting your page so that I’ll stop singing that song!

  6. Hi there, I am new to your blog. I don’t mind the seaming either. In fact, I can’t wait to get seaming. I think I am afraid I will never do it if I don’t get going, but I don’t mind the process at all. I just wish I enjoyed weaving in ends more.

PS, I think your doggies are adorable!

  7. Happy New Year to you!
So glad to see you are back posting.
I love your pictures of the boys, as well as of your knitting!( and of course wonderful things like smiley tortillas too.) But,those booties are the cutest, I can’t stand how cute they are! I think I’ll have to learn to knit, just so I can make them! 🙂

  8. Oh, I just love Leroy. With the high tan on his nose he looks like a little raccoon. So cute. Foster Huh!?
Can’t wait to see your CPH on you.
Glad to hear thumbs up on the Just Enough Ruffles. Have been considering
it and a few other ruffled scarfs. Maybe we could do knitters poll and see which ruffled scarf is most beloved.

  9. I absolutely love Leroy! He is so cute, and his eyes are so unusual. I wish my home was big enough to take him, but my doxies would have a hard time sharing their turf.

I am so glad you decided to do another year of pics. I look forward to seeing your shots every day on Flickr.

  10. Hi there,

I stopped by the knitting nest the other day and spoke with the other Stacey about all things knitting. I saw the CPH in the store and thought it was adorable. I’ll have to see about signing up for the class. I just took up knitting about 3 weeks ago, but hopefully this will be doable with some help.

anyway, great work on the sweater, and I’ll stop by sometime when you’re in the shop!

  11. Aw, Happy Birthday Abe! I used to think all basenjis were born around Christmas, too, until I met Darling Stella – born in June! Researching this, I’ve also found that some basenjis are even coming into estrus twice a year like “normal” dogs! 🙂

  12. I despise seaming. I did once for a sweater… and then could not even finish the project. Ugh. Anyway, I totally understand about seaming. I won’t even consider a pattern that requires seaming. Maybe in a few years. But for now, there are plenty of great top down sweaters that suit me just fine!

  13. Hey Girl~ ~ Miss your posts. Sending good thoughts your way.
Stop over at my place and enter my giveaways. There are 2 going on right now. To win one you have to make a pot of soup. The other just a comment.
Come visit Pennsylvania in the winter!
