SKEINO Moon Shawl Tutorial

The free pattern link is on the Ravelry page – be sure to like and queue! The yarn company SKEINO is no longer in business, but you can use any bulky weight yarn for this pattern.

The colorway I chose for my shawl is “White/Brown”.

Information on things you’ll see in this video:
The needles I use in the video are Knitter’s Pride Cubics and Knitter’s Pride Dreams, both interchangeable sets.

The nail polish I’m wearing is by Julep, color “Linnea”.

My silver ring is actually a knitting needle gauge, and can be found here.

  1. This shawl is so pretty, I will definitely be ordering the yarn ASAP. My question is that if I decide I want to make the shawl a little narrower do I have to cast on a certain multiple? I love the look of the shawl but think a slightly less bulky/wide shawl would work better with my winter coat. Thanks so much for all your great videos, I have learned so much from you.

  2. Sara – the shawl, as written, is just over 6 feet long…because it’s a parallelogram, the full length is from one pointed end to the other. But you can cast-on any number of stitches, and still work the pattern.

  3. Hi Staci, Just finished the Moon Shawl in the charcoal / grey combo and its gorgeous! I’m giving it to my Daughter-in-law for Christmas. Staci, does it have to be blocked? Ive block many of my knitted items before that really seemed to need it. This shawl however seems to have a pretty shape and drape on its own. If you feel in your experience that blocking is the way to go I will get on it. Just love all your tutorials, you are a fantastic teacher and I’ve learned so much from you.Plus I can’t get enough of the cute catchy music. Love it! Thank you Staci, Tere

  4. Hi Tere – it’s really up to you, you don’t have to block it if you don’t want to. I blocked both of mine, mainly because I wanted the corners squared off, and for it to block out to the measurements listed in the pattern.
