  1. Another trick for casting on a huge number of stitiches is to use two balls of yarn (either using the inside and the outside of a center pull ball, or two separate balls) to cast on. You knot the two together and cast on as usual. You will end up with an extra end to weave in, if that bothers you, when you cut the yarn from the other ball after finishing the cast on, but otherwise, you never need to run out of yarn or have any extra. Keep up the good work!

    • Hi Rachel!
      Yes, my mom said it was Kool Kotton, but it’s discontinued (don’t ask why they went with K’s)! There are some skeins in other people’s stashes on Ravelry. I see it’s 50/50 cotton an acrylic which may explain why it has held up for 9 years of being dragged around the country, washed often and loved fiercely. 🙂
