Podcast #88 is a great reminder of what we can do to beautify our great earth & create beautiful garments to wear or gift.
Staci,
I just love you! I asked about some cable needles on YouTube. You answered me and I didn’t write it down! Rats! They are short bamboo with a narrower middle of the needle to hold the stitches. Can you help me out again?
Thanks and keep up the inspiring work!
Debbie
Debbie – I think the needles you’re asking about are called Brittany Cable Needles.

About Continental Purling
Hi Staci, I changed the way I knit 5 times to avoid my hands from aching. I chose to knit continental which means hating to do purl stiches too.
I made some research 3 years back and found a way to purl that doesn’t make me move my fingers, just the right wrist. I pass the needle over the yarn in front without any help from my fingers. (I too leave my left index finger a bit far from the needle as you do when making a demo). I saw some tutorials on YouTube where is explained that this change the stich blah blah… I can’t see any difference on the right side of the work, only see it on the wrong side.
I don’t understand the fuss about continental purling, going over the yarn instead of going under, for me, it’s no big deal. What do you think, does it make a difference at all?
Trinity
True Cost is very compelling! An interesting counterpoint to that film is another documentary -Men of the Cloth (Amazon) about Master Tailors. Love watching how they love to sew – as we love to knit.
How awesome is this!?

I am huge anti fast fashion person myself. I just watched War on Waste, a mini series from Australia. They tackled food waste, plastics and fast fashion. its was great and worth a watch if you can find it.
Ooh, I’ll look that up!
