In this video, I demonstrate how to recover a dropped cast-on stitch when you are using the long-tail cast-on. I hope you never need this technique, but I’m putting it out there for your reference in case this ever happens to you!
The needles I’m using in this video are Knitter’s Pride Ginger. The yarn is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky. The crochet hook is by Boye.
Thank you SO much for sharing this technique. I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me-and it’s usually when I have 200-plus stitches on the needle….ugh. I’ve always ripped everything back and started from square one-after walking away and possibly having a glass of wine to calm down…. 🙂 No more! Hopefully I won’t make the mistake again but if I do, I have this video to get me back on track.
Thank you Staci!
How on you recover a dropped cast on stitch using the German twisted cast on?
Different process…I haven’t actually broken it down to recreate a German Twisted CO stitch, but it’s a good idea for a future video!

Thank you. I drop a cast-on stitch quite often with socks. I’ll try this the next time it happens.
