Just a quick thought on the use of Needlepoint yarn to sew up projects. If the needlepoint yarn is 100% wool which I believe most is And you are sewing up acrylic or super wash project you could end up with a shrunken seam if washed in a machine and you would not be very happy at all. I’d also be worried about colorfastness although I would assume she would be using a similar yarn color
