Slow Motion Using DPNs

In this video, I demonstrate getting started with double-pointed needles in slow motion. Part of my slow motion series for very visual learners.

You can see my slow-motion playlist here.
You can see my regular speed mattress stitch video here.

Tubular Cast-On in the Round

In this video, I demonstrate the 2×2 tubular cast-on, and how to join this CO in-the-round.

Instructions for working this cast-on:
1. Using a provisional cast-on and scrap yarn, cast-on HALF of the total number of stitches you need.
2. Starting at the slip knot end with a knit row, knit 4 rows of stockinette stitch (knit a row. purl a row).
3. Remove the provisional cast-on and slip those stitches on to another needle, line up those needles.
4. Knit 2 knit stitches from the front needle, 2 purls from the back needle, repeat those Ks and Ps across all of the stitches.
5. If you are joining in-the-round, this is the time to join in-the-round.

The cowl on the mannequin is Color My Cowl, free pattern and tutorial.
The bulky yarn I used for demonstration is Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Chunky.
The yellow alpaca yarn is Valley Yarns Sunderland in Beeswax.
The needles I use are Knitter’s Pride Ginger.

FlexiFlips Q&A

In this video, I answer the questions I’ve received about using the new FlexiFlips needles.

The sock yarn in the thumbnail image is Turtlepurl Yarns Tangled Love.

Recovering a Dropped Cast-On Stitch

In this video, I demonstrate how to recover a dropped cast-on stitch when you are using the long-tail cast-on. I hope you never need this technique, but I’m putting it out there for your reference in case this ever happens to you!

The needles I’m using in this video are Knitter’s Pride Ginger. The yarn is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky. The crochet hook is by Boye.
