All Pink and Girlie

Don’t touch that dial! It’s time for Fast-Topic-Changing Friday…with your host, Strawberry Shortcake.

One expects verypink to be a bit pink and girlie, right? Well, this week it’s double the long eyelashes, hair bows, and mani/pedis. Because…

mia.JPG Suddenly there are equal numbers of boys and girls in this house.

This is Mia, a girl I’m fostering for Basenji Rescue.

Before I even brought her home, we stopped at the pet store so that I could deck her out in a pink collar and leash.

She’s so petite and delicate looking next to my manly-men dogs.

img_0634.JPG Isn’t she fit and spry for a 9-year-old? She already has my boy dogs wrapped around her little…umm…finger. She’s a sweet thing, and we’ll find a good home for her.

(This is not going to turn out like my last fostering situation.)

Not really. This is the beginnings of a French Market Bag. I’m making a sample for a class I have coming up in June.

img_0690.JPG Abe had some fun with the yarn when I very foolishly left it within his reach for about ONE SECOND.
bambam.JPG I really can’t blame Abe for liking yarn. I like yarn, too. I just wish he would show his affection for it differently. Maybe he could just smell it, like I do.

  1. if i hadn’t already proven how ill equipped i am to handle a dog, i would snatch miss mia up. instead, i think you should keep her. that way the estrogen/testosterone levels are pretty equal. and then you have someone to buy those cute pink and sparklie collars for. ike’s cool and chill and all, but he doesn’t seem to strike me as a pink or sparklie guy. and well, we know abe isn’t at all.

now… tell me about your “photographer.”

  2. So you think it’s gonna be another “Brittany Spears” moment??

    OOPS! I did it again!…

Congrats on your new foster! Are you and your pack going to the convention in June?

PS: Your VERY good at getting your Bs to cooperate when a camera is on.

  3. I love the colors you picked for the French Market Bag! Very spring-y.

And I agree with Zeghsy; I think we’d all like to know more about this elusive photographer of yours …

  4. Isn’t “The Knitting Nest” your store?, Well, you know what I mean and. . .
Isn’t Franklin there TODAY! I was just visiting his blog and saw his adgenda/schedule. Love his blog and would love to meet him sometime. Please share with us about his visit. Take some great shots.

  5. Mia is gorgeous! Make sure you give her plenty of smooches on the forehead; that helps to make those worry wrinkles go away. You can always learn a lot about a person by the way he or she treats animals. There will be a special VIP pass waiting for you at the pearly gates!!

  6. aaah Mia is so sweet looking…. Is she really getting along with the boys ? Is she bossing them around ?

  7. Mia looks totally adorable & sweet, although being a Basenji there’s got to be a little mischief in there too. She is one lucky dog to get such a great foster home.

  8. wish i could take Mia, she looks so cute! still working on getting my boys ready for pets……love those market bag colors—shopping in style, you will be!
have a good weekend, knitting and all. off to make myself a G&T and sit on my patio and knit while the sun goes down

  9. So, Mia has shiny eyes like Molly!!! She IS a keeper. Is she bossy? And what is all this talk of Alexander? WHO? You have pic’s of the cutest dogs on the planet and everyone is talking about a boy/man? Come on what has the world come to?

  10. YAY For rescues! We recently started going to the SPCA to walk the pups there. The second week be brought home Foxy who had a pink collar in less than an hour of adopting and the next day a pink leash. LOL 🙂 Good luck fostering/not adopting. 🙂

  11. Yeah…RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!! She has a brandie new pink collar and all and you say it wont turn out like before??? I have a sneaking suspicion that she will grow on you!!!! Hee heee
    She is beautiful though!!!!

  12. Those dogs are gorgeous, and I’d guess Abe was just trying to join in with what you do with yarn. After all, lacking claws you take little sticks and tangle it up, so that’s what he did. Or something. 😉

  13. She is absolutely adorable. She has a very sweet little face. 🙂 Kudos to you for taking her in and giving her a home. I hope she finds a great permanent family.
