Nooo! You’re knitting along, and you realize you dropped a stitch AGES ago. You can rip back to fix it, but it’s worth a try securing that stitch with a stitch of scrap yarn, and seeing if it looks good enough to forget the mistake ever happened. In this video, I demonstrate securing a dropped edge stitch.
Information on things you’ll see in this video:
The lace in the video thumbnail is Ishbel (not my design), knit with Malabrigo Lace.
The project I’m fixing in the video is one that I can’t share (at least not yet), and the yarn used is Infinite Twist Helix and Halo.
The bent-tip tapestry needle I use for demonstration can be found here.
The sweater I’m wearing (not my design) is this pattern, knit in a discontinued cotton yarn.
The nail polish I’m wearing is Julep, color “Maddy”.
I’m knitting a scarf (lengthwise) in linen stitch with 421 cast on. It’s being knit with fingering weight yarn. I have just over 30 hours into it (I’ve had to start over 4 times already). I was having to back purl and accidently dropped 3 stitches! for the life of me I can’t figure out how to weave them back through in this stitch. I finally had the scraf about 1/2 way done and I’m loathe to have to start over. Any suggestions?
That was great and very very useful. Thanks Staci
Staci, you really saved me once again. I’m working on your log cabin blanket pattern. Borders finished and was seaming it together, and there it was a dropped stitch in the border. I started panicking right away because I would have to take out to fix it. I remembered you doing a video on this and low and behold it is now fixed. Thank you for all you do and for saving my project.
Thank you so much Staci for using my video idea!! I am not a gal but this video helped me so much!! THANK YOU 🙂 😛
Hi Staci
I would love it if you would make a video on Helix Knitting on circular needles ????
Sorry Staci, I posted this the wrong place.
I looked forever for an answer to this problem until I found this – thank you! Could not figure out how to deal with dropped stitch 20 inches down in a lace scarf – (late) Christmas present saved!
