  1. I enjoy your videos and find your instructions easy to follow. Would like to use this pattern for my first great-grandbaby! Thank you for making this available.

  2. Hi Staci, I’m a pretty new knitter, currently chugging along on a garter stitch sweater, and this looked so simple, yet fun compared to the miles of garter stitch I’ve been working on that I had to order the kit! Luckily I have lots of friends having babies this year, so it’s been a good year for me to learn to knit baby blankets. 🙂

Anyway, quick question… I’d like to use Portuguese knitting and do this all purl-wise rather than knit-wise, since purl is so quick & easy to do in Portuguese style. (Honestly, it feels like cheating… But that’s okay, right?!) For the increases, I think that I would:

    – Replace the original Knit 2 Together with Purl 2 Together
    – Replace original Knit Front-Back with Purl Back-Front
    – Replace original Slip Slip Knit with Purl 2 Together

…Is that right? I’ve watched your videos on Portuguese increases and decreases, but I just wanted to make sure I’m thinking about this the right way.

Do you think those increases in Purl will be so annoying that it would make more sense just to knit this?

Thanks as always for your fun and clear videos!

    • Jen – thanks for the note. This is a great project to take on in Portuguese knitting! And yes, the replacements you’ve given will work great. You might, however, want to replace SSK with p2togtbl (purl two together though the back loop). It won’t make a huge difference, looks-wise, but it might make enough to make it worthwhile. This video is ptbl, not p2togtbl, but you’ll get the idea: https://verypink.com/2012/02/22/purl-through-the-back-loop-ptbl/

      • Okay, I’ll check that out! Thanks so much for responding to my question. I’m excited for this to arrive so I can start working on it. 🙂
