Did you by any chance assemble tips/cords in any size other than the one you used? I have this set and love it EXCEPT that at least one end of each set of tips is all but impossible to join to the cord. It is so bad that I have had to cover the tip with a piece of rubber so as not to damage it and then use pliers to finish assembling. Once you do that, you can disassemble and reassemble without a problem. I have heard the same from a few other users.
I haven’t had any issues with my tips or cords – I’ve used multiple cords and multiple needles over the last few months, and they all seem to fit together fine. But I see that comments are coming in on YouTube from folks who have had issues like what you’re describing.
