Casey’s interview is with the folks from Heavy Metal Knitting Championship.
You can watch a short video about the competition here.
Other things we talk about in this episode:
My video on different needle types, materials, and sets.
Moth-proof yarn explained. We can’t explain tangle-proof.
I have a thought about so called tangle-proof yarn. Maybe Red Heart believe that was a legit claim, due to the packaging. Because this yarn is very old, perhaps for example, pull skeins were a new fangled thing that makers could brag about. ?????
Another great podcast – love the heavy metal knitting and the
Finnish way to inject fun into life!
Andrew asked about smaller needles.. you can also buy smaller needle tips to add to your set. I have the knitters pride nova platina set, which goes down to
US 4, so I bought the US 3 and US 2.5 tips separately to extend my set. See

The Red Heart Yarns that are all wool really don’t tangle. Some of this is how the skeins are wound in the factory. Another part of it is that the yarn is very smooth and not tightly spun or plied. There are not a bunch of fibers sticking out of the strand of yarn. Now given its age I can’t guarantee how it started out.
I’ve been gifted a bunch of this. It’s better for me than the acrylic I’m allergic to. However, this yarn comes from before 1965. More specific I can’t be.
It was nice to hear about it
