I just wanted to comment on the sticky needles problem. I’ve experienced this for years and believe it’s something to do with my own chemical make up. As an example, I can’t use stainless steel needles because as I use them the finish slowly strips off leaving me with a completely dull finish on the needles that doesn’t allow the yarn (any yarn, wool or otherwise) to slide along the needle easily.
I’ve worked with wooden needles and have recently found aluminum needles, both which work fine, but still end up with a slight stickiness on the needles as I work, more or less dependent on how warm the weather is and whether there is a slight sheen of sweat on my hands. My solution is to work with a damp cloth at hand – no soap or cleaning agent – and I wipe down the needles every few rows/rounds.
I recently read an article crediting Lizzo with the increase in flute lesson enrollment. <3
