This video is my second on KnitCompanion. To see the first, visit my KnitCompanion playlist.
The app works on your touch-screen device, like phones and tablets, and is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Just search for “KnitCompanion”.
For more info on the app, visit the KnitCompanion website.
You can also follow KnitCompanion on Facebook for helpful tips and tricks.
The cape on the mannequin (and the pattern I use as an example in the software) is Lost in a Dream Cape from Kraemer Yarns.
Staci, your videos are great I have learned so much from you, thanks for making them. I have downloaded the Knit Companion app and watched your videos and have a question: Are pdf files the only way to put patterns in the app? If so, is there a way to take patterns that aren’t pdf files and make them pdf files and the put them in the app?
Thanks for all you do for us knitters.
Connie – I’ve used Google Docs to save a file as PDF. It’s been a while since I’ve done it, but I’m sure you can google a help file to walk you through it.S t a c i
If you have the pattern as a file on your computer, you can also “print to PDF” using the Print dialog box. I use this option on my Mac, but Google tells me that it’s also available in Windows 10. Web browsers also often have an option to export a page as a PDF. If you have a paper copy, it can be scanned to a PDF.
Thank you for the 2 knit companion videos. Any chance you’ll be doing more? I hear there’s a way to make each of the stitches in a chart a different color so you could tell at a glance, for example that all the Knits are blue (if that’s the color you assigned) and all the purls are pink and that it numbers how many there are if there are several in a row. I can’t figure out how to do it. Anyway, just curious. I love, love, love your videos!
