Is there a pattern for the gloves holding the cell phone in the picture?
Hi Jodi – sorry, that is just art – no pattern available.

Ooh… love the gloves holding the cell phone! Would love to know where to get the pattern!
Hi Meri – sorry, that is just art – no pattern available.

Ah AI…
SilverSpun indeed went out of business a few years ago. So crazy this came up today as i finally am knitting the Connectivity Gloves patter from Knitty with my Silverspun from 10 years ago or maybe longer than that 2011?
I’m disappointed to see you using AI-generated art for this, there are lots of artists and photographers out there who would love a dollar or two for you to use their stock photos instead. Of course, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but the image certainly looks unnatural in the full-size email version.
Yeah I was debating whether to comment and mention it, but I was very disappointed to see it in my inbox this morning. It’s very much an AI generated image. The cuffs of the coat, fake, the cell phone, fake and the corner disappearing into the hand. And while the fingers look pretty good, the rest of the glove is obviously not real fabric or real knitting.
Pretty bright colors and would be very cool as an actual knitted object, but like a lot of AI: a disappointment.
I suppose I should comment on this. For the episode art, I usually use a photo I took myself or a purchased photo/art from an artist. This time I was unable to find the specific image I was looking for (cell phone in gloved hands) and I decided to give AI art a try. Just a one-off, I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you for the reply! I’m not angry and I’m not about to go badmouthing you, and I understand using it as a solution to a problem. AI is such a contentious topic, though, and I’ve been paying attention and am familiar with some controversies. Familiar enough that it jumps out at me when I see it. AI generated images are fun to play with for entertainment, but you can see from the earlier comments the problems it can create: people wanted the pattern to something that didn’t exist.
And outside of the big newsworthy controversies a friend was recently complained about having difficulty finding sewing tutorials because they kept running into ones that were AI generated babble…
I don’t have a problem with AI as such, but for someone whose business is knitting and patterns, be prepared for the first question everyone will ask being where do I get that pattern and being frustrated at the response. I suspected this was AI but didn’t see any caption stating as much, so I spent time going to your Rav store looking for it. Love your patterns and videos regardless but I thought these were pretty slick gloves that I might like to knit. Just FYI, the knitting and crochet subreddits are full of people asking where they can find patterns for all of these AI generated “projects”. People are getting pretty frustrated.
Silver Spun is no longer. Sadly
