Sleigh Bells in the Snow

Wow! Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, and all.

Here in Austin one hears fewer “sleigh bells in the snow” and more “flip-flops on the sidewalk”.

It’s a fast-topic-changing-Friday, I hope you know the drill…

img_7798.JPG My shameless begging for Christmas cards has turned out to be such a great experience! Cards have come from all over the world! The Christmas wishes written inside are so very sweet and heartfelt.

Besides the written notes, I’m enjoying the smiling family photos, the recipes, the trinkets…each card is like a giant Christmas present.

I am so grateful.

Tammy sent me The World’s Sexiest Earrings. Ha-cha! Tammy happens to be my online pal and personal fashion adviser in addition to being an amazing metalsmith.

I have found that wearing these earrings guarantees a good time. Magic? Maybe.

img_7784.JPG Umm…spoiled much?

Actually resting their bodies in the soft grass is just too “country” for these dogs. A bug might touch them or something, I guess.

img_7802.JPG On the needles…a baby sweater, specifically Vestee from knitty.com. I didn’t want to make it until I saw one knit-up in person.

Another pink knit for my little niece. (She will never be mistaken for a boy again!)

img_7764.JPG Bad dog. I get up from my tv/knitting spot for ONE STINKIN’ MINUTE and Ike moves in.

I know for a fact that he doesn’t need the light. He might just find a lump of coal in his stocking.

Have a great weekend!

  1. So glad you like the earrings! From what I can tell, they look great on you. Omg, the picture of the boys lounging in their beds on the grass is too funny! What a spoiled pair they are. Ike is a rotten seat stealer and I speak from experience since Littles does the same to me. I doubt he’ll get coal. One look at that adorable face and Santa won’t be able to resist! Merry Christmas!

  2. I have the same problem…whenever I get up, someone (be it cat or dog) has found my spot. I appreciate them keeping it warm, but they don’t give it up with a serious push! If a dog is there, they pretend not to know what I’m talking about when I tell them to move. So uppity!

  3. Merry Christmas, Staci! J’adore the red wall with all your cards strung up! I hope it’s in a place that you pass very often each day so you are reminded of how many people adore you, your work, your knitting, and your dogs!

Hope you have a fabulous New Year as we ring in 2008!!!

  4. WOW, look at all those cards! I am glad that you are enjoying them.

The boys sure look happy being spoiled in the sun. I just got a new puppy and in the past 3 days have managed to spoil her rotten.

Can’t wait to see the sweater when it is done.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful, funfilled New Year!

  5. With as smart as Ike is, I would refrain from putting the lump of coal in his stocking; you just might find a lump of something more unpleasant on your side of the bed! haha! Merry Christmas!

  6. What a great wall of cards. One from me and Cam should arrive soon! Have a great weekend and a great Christmas if I don’t get another chance to tell you before then! 😉

  7. A *really* good time? I’m glad to hear that you’re doing well, and your boys seem to be enjoying the sun. Enjoy your cards, and keeping having a good time!

  8. I love hanging cards on the wall – there’s something real “homey” about it. My husband and I move around a lot for school so we started decorating with our christmas cards, as we didnt’ have much else to use! I love it 🙂 Merry christmas

  9. Have a very Merry Christmas! I can see my card up there–Yea!!! My cat does the same thing to my knitting spot-whether I’m on the family room couch or the comfy chair in the living room. What’s up with that? I think I warm it up for him or something. Jake the dog seems to know better.

  10. Could I possibly rent one of those beds for myself? Your back yard looks a lot more pleasant than mine right now (18 inches of snow).

I find it highly suspicious that dogs can be so squeamish about getting wet, baths, bugs, etc, yet will roll in dead things at a moments notice. Things that make you go hmmmm.

P.S. Rudy went off to his Forever Home yesterday in time for his birthday and Christmas. Very bittersweet.

  11. You are so right, those earrings are very sexy on you! Love them. And I’m so glad you received so many cards, and from around the world too! That is very special. Wishing you a very happy holidays and much health and happiness for 2008!
