FrankenSenji!

I was calling Pona The Bionic Dog until today. Today Pona decided to remove his bandages, and I finally got a look at the hardware. Now he’s FrankenSenji.

I knew what was under there, but I am shocked at how it actually looks! Bolts! Rods! Pins! Surprisingly his skin looks fine and healthy, as if the hardware has always been part of his leg.

Sorry this photo is crap, but Pona is afraid of the camera. That’s right. The only Basenji in the house who doesn’t come running towards me when I pull out the ol’ Canon.

Today wasn’t supposed to be goin’-to-the-vet day, but I guess it is now…

  1. OMG, that just makes me cry. I think dogs are far more resilient than people, so perhaps he isn’t so shocked by it. Beyond the jarring visual impact of it, the mechanics of it all is very impressive.

  2. I guess he’s feeling better if he’s pulled of his bandages? Will he have to wear a cone now?

    Poor guy.

I had a dog like that – she always acted as if the camera was going to steal her soul! Maybe you’ll have to hide it in a stuffed toy!

So nice of you take such good care of him.

  3. Hope he’s okay.

I fostered a stray with a broken leg. She was in a cast all week with no problems. Then one day she tore into the bandages. The ladies at the animal clinic scolded me for not putting the lampshade on her. The doctor disagreed and said she was telling us something and that her wound was getting infected.

I hope Pona wasn’t trying to tell you something!

  4. I knew it, but I didn’t REALLY know it – that looks so bizarre! Amazing that she doesn’t seem as bothered as I’m pretty sure I would be! Hope all is well.
