As always, your videos are so helpful. Keep them coming!!
I always thought the ball was a smaller, rather strange skein, and I thought the hanks were just wound into balls. I never knew they were called cakes. I always learn something new from your videos.
Hi! I am new to your website and I am learning ALOT. Originally I was searching for a way to complete a pattern for a Christmas Stocking that was missing a line in photocopying the pattern. Not to mention that I have never knit anything except hats and scarves. Now I am really excited to do more, and by watching your videos I think I can actually fix the pattern and continue the tradition for my family. Thanks so much! Anyway, I haven’t seen the answer to this question- maybe you could direct me to the video that covers it or add one to your collection- Which yarns are good for which projects? There are so many gages and types!!
Anne – I recommend using the yarn called for in any given pattern, or checking on Ravelry to see what yarns other people have used for the same pattern, as a good starting point. Beyond that, this video should help: https://verypink.com/2011/05/25/substituting-yarns/

Hi Staci,
I love, love, love your site and videos! Thanks very much for such a fabulous resource. I like how you make note of what’s on the mannequin–oh, and your nail polish–in your later videos. I NEED info on that gorgeous shawl in the background of this video, please.
I’m fascinated by your flicking technique but I’m an old dog and not sure I have the patience to work through the learning curve to master it.
