Setting in Sleeves

Setting or “easing” sleeves is probably the most challenging part of finishing a pieced sweater. Here are some tips to make that easier.

Info to things you’ll see in this video:
The finished sweater I’m seaming is my (yet undyed) Ombre Dyed Sweater, pattern + video tutorials.

The clippie markers I use can be found here.

The poncho on the mannequin is the Easy Folded Poncho, knit in Knit Picks City Tweed DK.

My “Embrace the Swatch” water bottle can be found here.

  1. Hi Staci,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your babies. Thank you for this tutorial on sleeves. It’s one of those “why didn’t I think of that” type of things. It seems so simple and logical when you explain it, but that is why you do what you do and I don’t lol. I am going to try your latest sweater knit, I really like the style. I am a large woman and I think it will look okay on me. I do have to get some current projects off the needles before I tackle it though.

  2. Staci, is this just a dressmakers cutting board that you are using as a blocking board or is this something special? I haven’t seen one like this before but maybe I’m looking in the wrong places. Thanks.

  3. Brilliant! As usual. Thanks a lot Staci. All the things I’ve learnt through your videos. It’s really amazing. Thanks a lot!

  4. Staci, I’m looking to find a pattern for knit in set in sleeves? Does that even exist? I do not like sewing sleeves in to a sweater one bit.

  5. hi Stacy, i love your videos, it is the first place i turn to for knitting help 🙂 do you have anything on setting in sleeves knitted in seed stitch? i have a jumper finished but no idea how to sew the sleeves. or do you go for mattress stitch regardless? thanks

  6. Thank you Staci! If I already seamed the sides of the sweater, should I rip that out? I just came by this video today. Also, love the shawl/poncho in the background.
