Mother Earth Wrap

A very wearable wrap that is great for new knitters, and excellent tv knitting for more experienced knitters.

Information on the kit, pattern, and yarn –
The Mother Earth Wrap Kits on the Kraemer Yarns website
The Mother Earth Wrap Pattern (on its own)
Perfection DK yarn (all the colors)
You can add this pattern to your Ravelry queue here

I mentioned a baby blanket tutorial using this same yarn, you can find that here.

My little notions box can be found here. The needles I use are Knitter’s Pride Ginger from an interchangeable set, and Knitter’s Pride Bamboo DPNs.

  1. So now i know the yarn is not just doing that to me. Gosh i got so frustrated several times that i almost gave up knitting. Next time i will stuff it back in and see if that helps.

Your video helps are amazing! My skills have improved so much!
    Thanks.

  2. I just love watching your videos! And, I am excited to try this kit because I am a new knitter (and really not very good at all!) I think this is doable and appreciate having kit.

  3. Hi there.
I am going to start mine now.
Just not sure when and how to decrease. Could you be so kind and explain it pls.
How many stitches are needed to full capacity before starting the decrease.

  4. Hi, Staci. Just bought my kit and am looking forward to rewatching the tutorial. Two questions – 1) from where to where do you measure since this is a crescent, and 2) can this shawl be done completely or partially in seed/moss or double moss stitch? I really like the pattern but I don’t love the look of garter stitch over long lengths of fabric, restful though it is to knit!

    Thanks and please keep knitting!

    • Hi Charlotte – to measure, lay your measuring tape perpendicular to the rows.  If you choose to work this in seed or moss stitch, that should be fine…there is enough yarn to accommodate this.

  5. Just ordered the kit for this scarf project! Thank you for doing a tutorial on it. Its great to be able to see the kits before buying , and to see how they look when completed! I love the colors, the style, and how it will look finished- just the project I was looking for. Thanks again for all your tutorials -I always learn so much when I watch them!@ Happy knitting to all! 🙂

  6. Is there a particular order in which the colors should be used? Should they be used in the order they are listed in the kit?

    • You can arrange them however you like!  It doesn’t have to be in any specific order.  Keep in mind that the last color you use is the widest stripe, so maybe save your favorite color for last.

      • Thank you! Now I’m having an issue with gauge! I feel I’m a fairly “normal” knitter, but this is crazy. Swatch with size 6 needles was an inch too narrow so I tried to loosen up and went to size 8 needles and I’m still off. Did you have issues with the gauge or is it just me?

        • I didn’t actually check my gauge on this (until right now), I knew it would be fine as long as I was happy with the fabric I was creating.  The pattern is calling for 3.75 stitches per inch, I got closer to 5 stitches per inch.

  7. Thank you again, Staci, for your replies to my silly questions. Now that I have gotten past the first color and the yarn barf of the second skein, I am finding this project as relaxing as you said it would be. And, oh, the feel of this yarn!! It is divine!!!
