Hi Staci and Polly, I’ve been listening to the podcast for a while now and have enjoyed every episode but this one was especially fun. I felt every single word of Monica’s question. The easy access to SO MUCH information/inspiration via social media often has me wanting to knit/spin all the things while at the same time I know I don’t have the time or money to do that. And, that kind of consumerism isn’t aligned with my values. Not long ago I was introduced to the idea of JOMO (Joy of missing out) which has been a game changer for me and helped me realize that I can appreciate all the beautiful patterns/yarns/fiber that are being created every day without buying into the idea that I MUST make/buy that thing NOW. I’ve learned to slow down and figure out what will really make me happy and if that means not participating in the bajillion “alongs” that are always happening or not making the latest “hot right now” pattern, that’s ok. The beauty of having so much available is that there’s something out there for everyone, we don’t all have to do it all.
Also, I highly recommend jumping down the rabbit hole of spinning, it’s so much fun. As is dyeing. Abundant Earth sells dye packets that are super easy to use, safe for use in your kitchen, and don’t require steaming up the place. 🙂
Thanks again for a great podcast!
