Hiya Hiya Needles Review

In this video I give an overview and my review of Hiya Hiya Sharps and Steels interchangeable needle sets, including a comparision with Addi Turbos, Knitter’s Pride Platinas, and Chiaogoo.

The needles in this video are Hiya Hiya Sharps and Hiya Hiya Steels, both interchangeable sets. They are available from many local yarn shops and online retailers.

My nail polish is Gelish “It’s a Lily”.

  1. My very first interchangeable set was the Hiya Hiya small set just like you reviewed (recommended by the first LYS I visited). I was happy with the way they knitted, but I didn’t like the cords all that well and had several instances where the cords came loose. The little grippy things also dried out. When I decided to get a set of the larger needles I went with the Chiaogoo lace set, and I agree that the cords are really great. I finally ended up buying a set of the small Chiaogoo lace needles with a 5″ tip, which I use most of the time. I still use my Hiya Hiya’s occasionally, but find I like the sharper tip of the lace needles and the cord of the Chiaogoo much better (although I do occasionally have an issue with the cable loosening up.)

  2. Seems there are a lot of us who would love HiyaHiya (needle tips) and Chiaogoo (cords) to make a baby. My first set was HiyaHiya which I do love, but then I bought a set of Chiaogoos for the cords with the intention of then selling the Hiyas. But, I do prefer the Hiya tips because they are just a bit slicker (as Staci mentioned). The Chiaogoo cords ARE the bomb, though. Also, I have found the rubber grips with the Hiyas leave a weird, annoying residue on the needles that I swipe off with a tiny bit of nail polish remover. Anyway, I think I will keep both sets because I like them for different reasons.
