Judy’s Magic Cast-On Toe/German Short Row Heel

The second pattern in the Pick a Toe, Pick a Heel Series! You can see the entire playlist here.

Sizes: Women and Men, average widths, any shoe size
Needles: Size 2.5mm or 2.75mm – long circular or flexible double-points are recommended for this toe
Yarn: 100 grams of fingering weight yarn (also called sock yarn or 4ply yarn)
Additional Materials: tapestry needle for weaving ends, one ring stitch markers or a clippie marker
Gauge: 8.5 stitches per inch, or fewer stitches per inch if you’d like a slightly wider sock

Note on needles: In the video I demonstrate this toe on magic loop and flexible double-points, but that is just for the first few rounds of the toe. This series is written for any style of needles you’d like to use – double-pointed needles, short circulars, magic loop, or flexible double-points (aka FlexiFlips). If you would like a slightly narrower sock, I recommend using a 2.5mm size. For a slightly wider sock, use 2.75mm.

Get your pattern – $8 US via PayPal.
