Comin’ Atcha from Alaska

Whew. I’m here. It took 16 hours…including one successful flight, one missed flight, one denied standby flight, one very chilly flight (I was in shorts)…but I’m here. (On the chilly flight, the outside of the plane actually iced up. Brrrr.)

I can show you what I have seen so far…

Anchorage wasn’t my final destination, but a nice welcome, nonetheless.

I spent a lot of time in this airport. About five hours, to be exact.

I spent a good amount of time staring at this counter…

And did a little of this…

Alaskan Amber, if you were wondering.

And a little of this.

I had a lot of time to kill.

When I arrived in Kodiak, it was abundantly clear that I wasn’t in Texas anymore.

This photo was taken at 10:30 at night.

I’m all messed up with the time change, so everyone is asleep except for me and this beast.

This is Izabelle. She will have to take over the Basenji content on verypink this week.

My next goal: take photos of something other than the airport.

  1. Glad you are there safe and sound! I flew through Midway a couple months ago and was delayed for HOURS. Lots of extra knitting time!

  2. Happy to hear that you made it to Alaska safe and sound. Even though I love to travel I always have to stop myself from kissing terra firma once I get out of the airplane. Have fun dealing with the time change…don’t let it ruin your trip. You can sleep when you get home.

    Hey to Izabelle.

  3. Glad you made it safely. We’ll miss you tuesday, but look forward to seeing you and your midnight tan when you get back;-)

  4. For me, bright light in the middle of the night was the strangest thing about being in Alaska. I was constantly losing track of time.

  5. Glad you made it safely. Delays and jet lag are a toss up for the worst part of travelling. Enjoy your visit!

  6. Eeeee! Izabelle’s so cute! She looks exactly like my childhood dog Tofu – floppy ear hair and all. Oh yeah…and enjoy your trip. lol (Still squealing at the dog, here)

  7. A Westie!!! That’s the kind of dog I grew up with!! Sooooo cute!!!

Sorry, 13 year old girl moment, but they ARE deathly cute.

Mine was named Snowy…I was 3 when I named him. I’m sure my dad loved wandering around the neighborhood calling, “Snoooweeeeeee,” when the little adventurer wandered off. Which he did as often as possible.

Enjoy your Westie time. Hopefully her AMAZING cuteness will help you miss your boys a little less. 🙂

  8. wow. Those mountains are so ‘bob ross – joy of painting’ it isnt funny!! they’re gorgeous. I hate how airports are so boring. But at last, you’ve finally arrived! yay! and how cute is Izabelle. Enjoy your holiday 🙂

  9. Glad you made it there safe! I love to travel and never really mind the airport waits. I think the daylight at night would really mess with my head.

Izabelle will do a great job filling in for the boys.

    Have a great time!

  10. Hi Staci, Hope you’re recovering from your jet lag–you could have gone to Europe more quickly! Love the pics, and can’t wait to see more. What’s the big culinary treat in Kodiak? We’re HOT as h*ll here in TX today. Enjoy the cool. Denice
