  1. Thanks for answering my question! It made my day and I was so excited!! I wanted to follow up on a couple things:
    1. The acrylic I recommended for children’s charity blankets is Stylecraft Special DK and it is widely available in North America through LoveKnitting.com
    2. Regarding the superwash, my comment was indeed based on discussions about superwash growing and stretching after washing (you’re right, there’s no “hating” on superwash reeaaally). You mentioned that superwash yarn NEEDS to be washed in the machine to avoid this “blooming” or “growing” but most of my indie-dyed superwash yarns say “we recommend always hand washing” right on the label! Let me know if you need picture proof! 🙂 So you can see how I’m confused about this whole superwash thing!

    Thanks!

  2. Bring back Casey reading the questions! There seems to be less discussion between the two of you when the caller asks the question. . Although, Stacy is probably answering more questions, the interactions between the two of you is an important part of the podcast.

  3. I have hand-knitted sweaters from South American that my late sister gave me. The buttons are wood and are tied through the buttons and on the back with leather strips. They are stable and can be easily removed for cleaning.

  4. Hi S and C,

Another great podcast, thank you! I love hearing the voicemail questions. Maybe you can make this a permanent feature?

Like Agnes in Ottawa (Hi Agnes!), I have comments about superwash yarn and how you always say it stretches out when washed and needs to be machine washed and dried. This is not my experience! Most of my superwash experience has been with sock yarn but, sock or otherwise, I’ve never had superwash yarn stretch out when washed. Ever. I (mostly but not always) machine wash and lay socks to dry and I hand wash and lay flat to dry anything else. Anything that I give away probably gets machine washed and dried by the recipient. No stretching.

I’ve heard from other sources than you that there are some superwash yarns that stretch when washed but you certainly can’t attribute the same quality to all of them.
